Goodman Single-Stage, R-32 | GLXS3BN2410
A 2 ton air conditioner puts out 24,000 BTU of cooling and typically covers homes, townhomes, and larger apartments in the 900 to 1,200 square foot range. It's a popular replacement size, which makes efficiency — not just capacity — the thing worth shopping for.

Two homes of the same size can have very different power bills depending on the SEER2 rating they buy. A higher-SEER2 2 ton unit costs more up front but draws less electricity every cooling season, and many utilities and manufacturers offer rebates that narrow the gap. If you plan to stay in the home more than a few years, the efficient unit usually wins on total cost.

A 2 ton unit (24,000 BTU) suits homes, townhomes, and large apartments of roughly 900–1,200 sq ft, depending on climate and insulation.
24,000 BTU per hour — 2 × 12,000 BTU/h.
If you'll keep the home more than a few years, usually yes — the lower running cost and any available rebates typically outweigh the higher purchase price. For a short-term hold, a lower tier may make sense.
R-454B (and R-32) are newer low-global-warming refrigerants now shipping on current equipment; R-410A is the older standard still used on many existing systems. The condenser and indoor coil must use the same refrigerant.
Sometimes, if it's the right size and in good condition — but it must be compatible with the new refrigerant and properly cleaned or flushed. When in doubt, replacing the line set avoids contamination and performance issues.
