The largest coil — airflow is everything

A 5 ton evaporator coil can only deliver full capacity if the furnace blower and ductwork push enough air across it. At the largest size, generous airflow and returns are essential, and the coil must match a 5 ton condenser of the same refrigerant to hit its rating.

• Maximum airflow — the biggest coil needs the most air.
• Blower & ducts — must supply the CFM.
• Capacity match — 5 ton coil for a 5 ton condenser.
• Refrigerant — match the outdoor unit.
